My name is Kara, and just a few years ago, my life looked very different.
I was navigating the challenges of single motherhood after a divorce, raising my two young sons in a tiny apartment, that apartment was so small we couldn’t even fit a kitchen table, and I shared a bed with my youngest son.
I felt defeated, like I had failed, but I refused to let my circumstances define my future. Determined to change our lives, I started a lash business called Empowered from the living room of that tiny apartment, hoping to make a few extra dollars to save for a better home.
Within six months, I had built a full book of clients, and soon after, I was able to afford my first small studio. From there Empowered grew rapidly, and just two years later, we had our own storefront!!
Seeing how much I could accomplish as a single mom who simply believed in herself, I knew I had to share this with others. I decided it was going to be my mission to teach as many as possible that they too could build successful beauty brands, no matter their circumstances.
What started as a small idea is now a nationwide beauty brand, empowering women across the United States to follow their dreams.
You see, it’s not about where you start—it’s about where you’re going. My mission is to show individuals just like me that, no matter their circumstances, they have the power to dream big and achieve the extraordinary.
